SOLAR Village Essaouira
A place for sharing traditional know-how with the argan tree at the center
Project presentation
In its origins in 2017, the ‘Solar Village’ is a rural electrification project in the village of Idmjahdi, in partnership with the French cosmetic brand Le Petit Olivier and the Intermarché retail chain.
Recognized as the ‘First Solar Village in Africa,’ it has now transformed into a true community space that values traditional know-how, starting with women: argan transformation, sale of artisanal products, a restaurant, youth education, and an argan tree garden and nursery.
In just 6 years, the project has grown from involving 20 to over 300 families.
